Maxis vs Unifi: which home fibre should you get?
Maxis vs Unifi home fibre compared on price, promotions, upload speed, routers, installation and moving house, with live prices for every speed.
Quick answer
Maxis and Unifi charge the same or nearly the same monthly price at most speeds. Unifi's current offer of 3 free months on 100 to 500 Mbps makes it cheaper over the full contract, and Unifi publishes its upload speeds. Maxis suits you if you already use Maxis mobile or want MaxWiFi or device bundles.

Monthly prices exclude 6% SST and update automatically from our plan data. The two providers price their home fibre very closely at most speeds, so the details below often decide it.
Promotions and contract length
- MaxisThe 100, 300 and 500 Mbps prices are RM10 below normal for the first 24 months, which is the whole contract. The 2 Gbps plan lists a RM10 monthly rebate for 24 months.
- UnifiNew subscribers on 100, 300 and 500 Mbps get RM10 off plus 3 months free, so the contract runs 27 months. The 1 Gbps plan is RM40 off for the first 24 months.
Unifi’s 3 free months lower the total you pay over the contract. Our plan finder can sort by total cost.
Upload speeds
Unifi lists its upload speeds: 50 Mbps on 100 and 300 Mbps, 100 Mbps on 500 Mbps, 500 Mbps on 1 Gbps and 1 Gbps on 2 Gbps. Maxis does not show upload speeds on its plan cards, so ask us if upload matters to you.
Routers
- Maxis: a WiFi 6 certified router on 100 to 500 Mbps, and a Premium WiFi 7 certified router on 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps.
- Unifi: a Wi-Fi 6 Combo Box on 100 to 500 Mbps, and a Wi-Fi 7 Combo Box on 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps.
Installation and moving house
- Maxis calls within 48 hours to set a date, aims to install within 14 working days, and includes the first 100 metres of cabling. Moving house costs RM300, which can be waived with a new 24-month contract once your old one has ended.
- Unifi offers free standard setup and same-day installation in selected Klang Valley areas. Moving house with Unifi is free when your new address has coverage, and your contract carries on (see our Unifi relocation guide).
Bundles
Maxis lets you add devices such as TVs and tablets, MaxWiFi whole-home coverage and sooka streaming. Unifi offers optional Netflix and Max bundles and a 30-day Unifi TV trial for new subscribers. Pick the one whose extras you will actually use.
So which should you choose?
- Choose Maxis if you already use Maxis for mobile, or want MaxWiFi or device bundles, and Maxis fibre reaches you.
- Choose Unifi if you want the 3-free-months promotion, published upload speeds, or Unifi TV.
Either way, coverage at your address comes first. Check both at once, free.
Questions
Should I cancel my old plan before switching?
No. Keep your current plan until the new one is installed and working, then end it. Check your current contract end date first so you avoid an early termination charge.
Which is cheaper, Maxis or Unifi?
At most speeds the monthly price is the same or very close. Unifi’s 3 free months make its 100 to 500 Mbps plans cheaper over the full contract right now.
