Unifi vs TIME: which home fibre is better?

Unifi vs TIME (or TIME vs Unifi) home fibre compared on price, upload speed, contract options, routers, installation and coverage, with live prices from both providers.

Updated 24 Oct 2026. Facts checked against each provider's official website.

Quick answer

Unifi has the lower starting price, with 100 Mbps from RM89, and currently gives new subscribers 3 free months on 100 to 500 Mbps. TIME starts at 200 Mbps with a matching 200 Mbps upload, and also sells 12-month and no-contract plans. Often the deciding factor is simply which one reaches your address.

Unifi vs TIME at a glance

Speed Unifi (24 months) TIME (24 months)
Entry 100 Mbps: RM89 200 Mbps: RM99
Mid 300 Mbps: RM129

Speed and upload

The plans are not like for like at every level. TIME’s entry plan is 200 Mbps and uploads at the full 200 Mbps. Unifi’s 100 and 300 Mbps plans upload at 50 Mbps, and its 500 Mbps plan at 100 Mbps. At the top, Unifi’s 2 Gbps plan uploads at 1 Gbps, while TIME’s 2 Gbps uploads at 500 Mbps. If you work from home or upload large files, compare the upload figures, not just the headline speed.

Contract choices

  • Unifi home plans run on 24 months, or 27 months on plans that include 3 free months for new subscribers.
  • TIME offers 24-month, 12-month and no-contract plans. No contract means a one-time installation and activation charge, from RM400 for 200 Mbps up to RM800 for 1 Gbps.

If you rent or may move within a year, TIME’s flexible terms are worth a look. If you are staying put, compare the 24-month prices above.

Routers

  • Unifi: a Wi-Fi 6 Combo Box on 100 to 500 Mbps, and a Wi-Fi 7 Combo Box on 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps.
  • TIME: a WiFi 6 router on 200 Mbps, a WiFi 7 router on 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps, and a high-performance router on 2 Gbps.

Installation

  • Unifi says standard setup is free and offers same-day installation for eligible customers in selected Klang Valley areas.
  • TIME includes free basic cabling (up to 20 metres in a high-rise, 40 metres in a landed home, or 6 metres from an existing fibre socket) and says installation takes 2 to 4 hours.

Coverage: the deciding factor

TIME built its network starting with high-rise buildings and is expanding into landed homes in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Kedah. Unifi has its own checker for fibre and 5G. In practice, the right choice is often simply whichever one reaches your building or street. Check both at once and we will tell you what is available.

So which should you choose?

  • Choose TIME if it covers your building and you value upload speed on the entry plan, or want a 12-month or no-contract option.
  • Choose Unifi if you want a low-priced 100 or 300 Mbps plan, the current new-subscriber promotion, a 2 Gbps plan with 1 Gbps upload, or if TIME does not reach your address.

Questions

Is Unifi or TIME cheaper?

It depends on the speed. Compare the table above, which updates automatically, and remember TIME’s entry plan is 200 Mbps while Unifi’s is 100 Mbps.

Can I switch from Unifi to TIME, or the other way round?

Yes, if the new provider covers your address. Install the new service first, then end the old one, and check your current contract end date to avoid an early termination charge.
