Which Maxis 5G Home WiFi plan should you pick?
All four plans run on Maxis’s 5G network and fall back to 4G where 5G is weak. The main differences are the data allowance, the speed cap and whether a router comes with it.
- Maxis 5G Home WiFi 69150GB of 5G/4G data a month for light browsing. Plan only, so you use your own 5G router.
- Maxis 5G Home WiFi 99Unlimited 5G/4G at up to 100 Mbps, for work and streaming on 2 to 3 devices. With or without a Maxis router.
- Maxis 5G Home WiFi 139Unlimited 5G/4G with no speed cap, for more users and devices. With or without a Maxis router.
- Maxis 5G Plus Home WiFi 159Unlimited 5G/4G with no speed cap, plus a 5G router and mesh for homes up to about 1,600 sq ft.
Router on contract, or plan only?
On the 99 and 139 plans you choose. Take a Maxis router on a 12 or 24-month contract and the monthly price drops, or bring your own router with no contract.
- With a router, the monthly price is the same on 12 or 24 months. The 24-month option unlocks the router and mesh pair on the 139 plan.
- Maxis’s routers are all WiFi 6 certified. Its guide puts a single router at homes under 950 sq ft and a router with mesh at under 1,600 sq ft.
- Maxis lists no upfront payment for the router, though an advance payment may apply depending on eligibility. We confirm this at registration.
- The 5G Plus 159 plan always comes with a router and mesh on 24 months. The 69 plan is plan only.

How Maxis 5G Home WiFi works
There is no cabling and no installer visit. You get a router with a SIM inside: plug it into a power socket and connect your devices.
Because it runs on Maxis’s mobile network, your speed depends on the 5G signal inside your home, and placing the router near a window usually helps.
Is the 5G signal good at your home?

Maxis 5G Home WiFi or Maxis fibre?
If Maxis fibre reaches your home and you have a busy household, Maxis Home Fibre is steadier and faster.

Fees and fine print
- Plan onlyNo minimum contract. You can end it by contacting Maxis.
- Ending a router contract earlyMaxis charges the router’s retail price, less anything paid upfront, for the share of the contract left. You also lose the monthly rebate.
- Fair usageOn the 99 plan, Maxis may limit video to standard definition after 300GB in a month. On 139 and 159, the same applies after 300GB of 5G data.
- The SIM stays in the routerThe Maxis router only works with its own Maxis SIM. Moving the SIM to another device can get it blocked.
- DepositNon-Malaysians pay a RM300 deposit.
- Malaysia onlyData works within Malaysia. Roaming is not available on these plans.
Maxis 5G Home WiFi questions
Do I need a contract for Maxis 5G Home WiFi?
Only if you take a Maxis router. The 69 plan, and the 99 and 139 plans without a router, have no contract. With a router, you sign for 12 or 24 months and get a monthly rebate. The 5G Plus 159 plan is always 24 months.
Is there a data limit?
The 69 plan includes 150GB a month, then slows down until your next bill unless you buy a data pass. The 99, 139 and 159 plans are unlimited, but Maxis may limit video to standard definition after 300GB in a month.
Why is the 99 plan capped at 100 Mbps?
Maxis sets the 99 plan at up to 100 Mbps, which is enough for 2 to 3 people streaming and on video calls. The 139 and 159 plans have no speed cap, so they can go faster where the 5G signal is strong.
Can I use my own 5G router?
Yes, on the 69 plan and on the 99 and 139 plans without a router. Make sure your router supports 5G. We can check your model with you before you register.
Can I move the router to another house?
The router is portable, but your speed depends on the 5G signal wherever you use it. Check coverage at the new address first. The service works anywhere in Malaysia with Maxis coverage.
Do I get the Touch ‘n Go credit shown on the Maxis website?
Maxis gives that credit through selected channels, mainly its own Online Store. It does not apply to registrations through us. The monthly rebates on the plans do apply.
