How to check Maxis coverage yourself
Maxis gives two ways to check fibre coverage: its online fibre coverage checker, or a visit to a Maxis Store. For 5G Home WiFi, the Maxis network map shows where 5G reaches.
- For fibre, open Maxis’s fibre coverage checker and enter your address.
- For 5G home WiFi, open the Maxis network map and search your area.
Tip: a 5G map shows outdoor coverage. Thick walls and higher floors can change what you get indoors, so a strong signal on the map is a good sign, not a promise.
Maxis fibre or Maxis 5G Home WiFi?
If Maxis fibre reaches your home, it gives the steadiest connection for a busy household. If it does not, Maxis 5G Home WiFi uses the mobile network instead, so there is no cabling. It suits renters and homes where fibre has not arrived yet.
Installation, once you are covered
According to Maxis:
- The team calls within 48 hours of registration to set an installation date, and installation should be done within 14 working days.
- Standard installation is free and covers the first 100 metres from the nearest fibre distribution panel to the modem, run over the wall with clips. Beyond 100 metres, Maxis charges RM35 per 5 metres. Hidden or concealed cabling costs extra.
- A standard installation is completed within about 4 hours. Have three power sockets ready and be home on the day.
Questions about Maxis coverage
How do I check if Maxis Fibre is available at my house?
Use the Maxis fibre coverage checker, visit a Maxis Store, or send us your address and we will check Maxis and the other three providers for you.
Does the Maxis 5G map guarantee indoor coverage?
No. The map shows network coverage, but walls, floor level and where you place the router all affect the signal indoors.
Is there anything extra for foreigners?
Maxis says foreigners pay a refundable deposit of RM300 when signing up for Maxis Home Fibre.
Not covered by Maxis? You still have options.
Fibre networks differ street by street. Another provider may already be at your address, and 5G home WiFi needs no cable at all.
