Why coverage is the first thing to check
Every provider builds its own fibre network, street by street and building by building. Your neighbour two taman away might have three choices while your street has one. So before you compare prices, it pays to know which providers can actually reach your door.
There are two kinds of coverage to think about:
- Fibre coverage means a provider has fibre running to your street or building. You get a cable to your home, a router, and the steadiest speeds. Installation is needed.
- 5G coverage means a mobile 5G signal reaches your home. 5G home WiFi is a plug-in router with a SIM inside, so there is no cabling, but speed depends on the signal indoors.
High-rise or landed: it makes a difference
In condos and apartments, fibre usually has to be wired into the building first. If your building is covered by a provider, every unit can usually sign up; if it is not, no amount of asking will get you a line until the provider wires the building. TIME, for example, started with high-rise buildings and is now expanding into landed areas.
For landed homes, it depends on whether fibre runs along your street. Two houses on different streets in the same taman can get different answers.
Why online checkers sometimes get it wrong
Official checkers are a good first step, but they are not a guarantee. Unifi’s own checker says its result is for information only and that availability can depend on things like in-building wiring. Common reasons for a wrong answer:
- Your building or taman is listed under a slightly different name.
- A new development is covered but not in the checker yet.
- The street is covered, but the building wiring is not done.
That is why we check through the dealer channel and tell you what each provider can actually install at your address.
What happens after you send your address
- We check Unifi, TIME, Maxis and CelcomDigi for fibre and 5G home WiFi at your address.
- We WhatsApp you what is available, with the cheapest plan at each speed. Same working day.
- If you want to go ahead, we register you and book the installer. If not, no problem.
Questions people ask
Is the coverage check really free?
Yes. Checking costs you nothing, and you are under no obligation to sign up. If you do sign up through us, you pay the same price as on the provider’s own website.
Do I need my unit number?
No. Your street, taman or building name and postcode are enough for a coverage check. We only need the full address if you decide to register.
What if no provider has fibre at my address?
5G home WiFi is usually the next best option. It needs only a 5G signal and a power socket. We will tell you which 5G home WiFi plans have a signal in your area.
Can a provider’s coverage change?
Yes. Providers keep extending their networks, especially into landed areas. If nothing is available today, ask us to check again in a few months.
